I suppose it would be best to document this to my blog\journal, so we can remember the "in limb0" feeling we've been experiencing during this time. As it was discovered, much to our dismay and surprise, that Garald had two 90% blockages in the main artery in his heart, a stent was inserted during an angioplasty. He has never felt any symptoms of this possibly life threatening condition. But we were assured that all was well by our cardiologist and another heart specialist and that it wouldn't interfere with our mission call. So we proceeded. Then, quite by accident, one of our phone calls was taken by a cardiologist at missionary medical and he was quite adamant that we would not be going to the Ukraine with possible heart complications. We tried to sway him with descriptions of Garald's abundant energy and good health. But he was not to be swayed and we were told we'd have someone contact us in a few days about the decision. After no contact for over a week, we called the missionary department to learn that we had been re-assigned, and as we were only 3 weeks away from departure date, it would be "over-nighted" to us. But it didn't arrive and after another week, we called and again and were asked to pick up the letter at the church mission office. Which we did, although it took some time for them to locate where it had been "misplaced" after we arrived. So to make a long story short - yes...I know it's too late for that - but our new call is to Singapore. We will probably be actually serving in either East or West Malaysia. It's taken us a while to change directions mid-stream, but I think we're making it. Changing clothes from cold to hot climate. Don't think the Russian we've learned will be really helpful there, but oh well, it was fun while it lasted. We're still hesitant but hopeful that we'll still be able to serve and guess we'll wait for "boots on ground" til we know it's real. We're scurrying to get ready. Much thanks, love and appreciation to family and friends as we've made our way through this. You're the best!
