Tonight is Thursday and we just got back from Kuala Lumpur - zone conference. We left Monday morning - 5 hr bus ride - with conference on Tuesday. It began at 9:00 A.M. and ended at 8:00 P.M. Long day, but so many good things to learn and absorb. While there we got to visit with the Brown's and Johnson's. Browns live in KL and Johnsons 5 hours on the other side in a city called Butterworth. E\S Brown showed us how to manage the MRT and get around, took us to the Twin Towers and Batu Caves. We did that the day after conference. Being a tourist is hard work. We all returned tired. Of course, the hot temperatures add to the fatigue. Enjoyed some delicious Chinese restaurants and a place called Strawberry Fields where Elder Johnson insisted on going for ice cream every night. Oh yes, and we met the elders there too. One of their favorite places. It was fun to see the 'big city' but nice to come home to our little apartment. Back to work tomorrow. Studying for tomorrow night's Seminary class, Saturday's institute. We have a baptism on Saturday night so we'll host a dinner after - thinking of soup.

Fish treatment where these hundreds of fish swim around and eat off your dead skin. NOT FOR ME!
This is a man in a mall getting the 'fish treatment' for his feet. We were quite intrigued.
Now let me tell you about this very naughty monkey. I had climbed the stairs, viewed the sights and was on my way back down. I was carrying a little shoulder bag - which I don't usually do - but had my camera and umbrella in it. (One always needs an umbrella - either for sun or rain in Malaysia) Anyway, before I knew it this monkey ran over and grabbed hold of the edge of my open shoulder bag and tried to pull it away. He was screeching, I was hollering and pulling back. People stopped, stared and were slightly aghast. Garald was running back up to help me, when it gave up and ran off. Yes... it did scare me and I changed the bag to my other shoulder, zipped it closed and hurried down the stairs. I was a little distraught. Apparently he thought there was food in my bag. People there buy or bring food and feed to them and they are VERY aggressive. I did NOT enjoy the encounter of the 'monkey kind.'
Like the big gold guy in the back...? Beginning of the climb to the Batu Caves\Hindu temple.
We visited the Batu Caves and walked the 392 stairs to the Hindu Temple at the top. Very ornate. Many monkeys all around. It was A climb.
Beautiful landscaping around the Mega Mall and Petronas Towers. Of course, very hot and tropical - just like JB where we live. We tried to include some of the trees in the background.
Yup - we made it to the Petronas Towers. Very tall is a bit of an understatement. But it was fun to look up. We didn't go up as that's a little pricey and they'll only let you go about halfway.
A beautiful mall in Kuala Lumpur, underneath the Petronas Towers - sleek, modern, beautiful. We were amazed at the beauty, and spaciousness - not only of the mall but the whole city.
Here's a picture of PJ House where we had zone conference. We've included it here just for Morris and Ruth Ann, as this is where they lived when in KL. That was fun for us to think about them living here as we walked around.
The night before zone conference we went to dinner at a mall and ate at a Chili's. Oh...tasted so good to have familiar food. This is Elder\S Brown on the front from North Ogden, then Elder\S Johnson on the left back, from SLC. We enjoyed a short get together with a chance to visit and compare challenges, ideas, etc. Had some good times together and hope to see each other again in another 3 or 4 months. Johnson's are Humanitarian and Browns are Family history. Good people all.
