This last week - n

We drove to a nearby city, Kota Tinggi, on P day last week. After walking to a waterfall, we had to run for shelter as a 'rain forest' shower bucketed down on us. We were amazed as the depth of the running water at our feet increased very quickly.

This was the first of a weekly FHE on Sunday nights held last Sunday. An attempt to fellowship and build some connections in the new branch. A sweet memory for us. I taught a lesson, we sang, and ate. I tried to capture it on a couple of videos - see at the end of this post - sorry - very grainy. Used the wrong camera. Maybe I can get a better one next week. But it's an evening we want to remember. The beginnings of a small, struggling branch that we hope and pray will be strong and growing soon.

The FHE was held at Prada's home - a newly reactivated member. She's a sweet young mother - husband not a member. We've visited her many times and we're so glad to see her back in activity.
Tuesday evening at Lucy and Uki's 'extended family' get together. (all live together) Elder Christensen in the back with his brother, sister and mother on his left. It was so fun to have them stay with us for a couple of days. They're from Provo and El Christensen was saying his good-bys.

Our newest investigator - Mom and 3 daughters. She speaks English and can drive - hoorah! We've enjoyed being a part of her first two lessons. That's her Book of Mormon in her hand. She's actively reading.

An ocean side restaurant we tried on Wed. night - You choose your seafood entree from a tank of live fish. We think we've figured out how to order from 'non-English' speaking places, albeit not always successfully.

Saying good-bye to the fam staying with us on Mon and Tues nights. Elder Christensen transferred to this area on our first day here. We spent a lot of time the next 6 months together. We think he'll always take the prize for "elder who can eat the MOST." He and his comp came to our apt every Thurs to give us Malay lessons. He's been a great missionary and we're sad\glad he's going home. His last words..."See you on the other side... of the world."
