It's a very young branch president who is a very good man, but lacks experience in running the branch. Seems to be last to arrive for church and first to leave. The members and newly baptized really need attention and direction, but very little delegation and members really need some callings. No branch activities - we hope to help organize one for December. Maybe a Christmas type of thing.
Last evening we went with the missionaries to visit a newly baptized family. It was pouring. Even with umbrellas we were soaked. Seems to rain every night and sometimes in the day. It was a nice change to be soaked with rain instead of sweat. The elders had put together some makeshift costumes and threw a little Halloween party. Elder Jones had candy and glow sticks and spray stringy stuff and licorice for prizes as we played B of M Bingo. It was a lot of fun. They had a nice meal for us of noodles, wild boar. Nyla wasn't too sure about eating it, but she did. The family didn't eat with us. Said they'd already eaten, but we suspect they wouldn't eat the costly food they prepared for us. We understood from one of the elders that the mother works in a factory from 7:00 at night until 7:00 in the morning and makes about $1.00 an hour. They live far away from us and in the middle of a strongly dominant Muslin region. As we stood on the corner after trying to get a taxi, we were obviously a very unique sight as the motorbikes kept whizzing past and almost wrecking as they stared at us and then whizzed past again. Finally the father took us to the bus stop in his car - a couple of miles. Elder Parrish gave him some money for gas. At the bus stop, we found a taxi to take home, arriving about 11:00 P.M. Long day.
