Thought you might be interested in this e mail we just received from our mission Pres. Amazing good news about the Malay translation of the B of M Unfortunately this will probably be after we leave here, but it's still good news. We also found it interesting the other day when a local person was telling us that anyone in Malaysia who has a passport is forbidden to ever travel to Israel on their passport - interesting. Muslim influence. Here's today's e mail:

Dear Elders and Sisters,

We are so pleased to announce that the Church Translation Department has upgraded their projection on when we will actually have The Book of Mormontranslated into Malay. Currently the target is that we will have printed copies of The Book of Mormon in our hands around June 2012! This is a full two years quicker than last projected, and means that many of you will have the opportunity to proselyte with the Malay Book of Mormon before you go home! We are so excited about the blessing this will be for our Saints to have the scriptures in their own language!

Once the entire Triple Combination is completed in Malay, which may be a couple more years, then we can anticipate the other Church publications to quickly follow, including the Church Handbook of Instructions, the Liahona, Sunday School and Primary manuals, etc. We have also received notice theJoseph Smith Testimony pamphlet is also now available in Malay. We are ordering a large quantity and you can let us know how many you need and we can ship them to you. Hopefully most of you have already received your shipment of Indo Triple Combinations.

I am also pleased to report that the First Presidency has approved a Malay translation of the Bible. Currently the Bible is not easily imported into Malaysia, with 35,000 bibles currently being held in customs (5000 in Penang, 30,000 in Kuching). Because it is a political year, with important elections looming, the Bible issue is becoming polarized and politicized, so we are waiting for the dust to settle before we pursue printing and/or buying local Bibles for our Saints.
