We've been busy the past few days, today was a nice break. We went to the movie, Thor - read in a novel and I wore pants - so nice. There are not many movie places around here - two exactly - and finding a movie that's in English and is clean - well, it's a challenge. Today's choice was not our usual genre, but it was entertaining and kind of fun. We promise to go seriously 'back to work' tomorrow.
While Elder & Sister Brown were here from KL, we went out to breakfast on Monday morning with Wee Lee & Felicia. Monday was a public holiday - Labor Day. This is some of the Chinese food we had. It was really delicious - well, most of it.
This is Cheryl - a young Chinese gal in our branch. Love her dearly. She's dating Jeff, a counselor in the branch presidency. Great young people. So hope we get to see them married before we leave. She comes to our 'once monthly' girls night for dinner at our apartment. Said she hated this picture because her cheeks look fat. Sheesh! She's darling. AND she's also very slim.
On Sunday after church, we had about 30 people in our little apartment where we helped them get registered at 'familysearch.org' Wow... was it ever crowded. But the 'family history bug' has really taken hold. Many left with names of ancestors ready for temple work. This is Elder Browne helping Melati. Augustine watching. I had two huge pans of chicken soup and we used 5 loves of bread for sandwiches. It was enough - yup, I was worried about that.

A small snatch of the apartment - family history workshop on Sunday. We had about 7 laptops and our apartment was the only place we could all get on line with wireless internet. It was a very busy time. On the wall at the back, you can see some of our family pictures - very artfully arranged (not) and stuck on the wall with scotch tape.

Another view of our apartment. It was kind of 'wall to wall' people. We also did it again on Monday afternoon with a few more people who couldn't make it on Sunday. Luckily it was a holiday so that worked.
This is Branch President Tan on the left and his wife, Jessie. She had just finished registering, while he tended Angela, their little girl in the bedroom. Brother NG on the right. Husband to Pong. One of the few members of the branch who only speaks Chinese - a little English and a little Malay.
This is Elder Blissett - new to our area. Yes... he did help a lot, but also caught a few winks in the corner. Well deserved - they work hard.

Oh, do we love this couple - Brother and Sister Tan. Original members of this branch - held church in their home until a branch was organized. He is currently working in China and was just home for the holiday week-end. They registered and entered several names for temple work.
I know you can't see it very well, but this is out of our windshield. Traffic jams and rain - very much a part of our lives most every day.
